This web page will provide guidance on how best to use this website.

Navigation

The yellow menu bar on the top of the screen shows the main content sections of the website. When you click on one of these tabs, the relevant content will be shown below.

You can click on the Digital Motion banner at the top of every page to return to the home page, or you can use the back button on your browser to return to the page you last visited.

Search

At the top and bottom of each page is a ‘Search Footage’ box to help you find the footage you are looking for on the website. Enter one or more keywords and click on the ‘Search Footage’ button to bring up the footage that is related to the word or words you have searched for.

  • The search will look for all of the words you type into the search box, e.g. ‘Dogs’.
  • If you get too many matches try being more specific, e.g. ‘Dogs Running’.
  • If it does not find what you are looking for, try using fewer words which should return more matches.

Refining your search

Using Boolean Search terms may help narrow your search.

  • Using AND between keywords will return pages that includes all the words. e.g. Tiger AND Snow.
  • Using OR for a search that should include either of the words e.g. Lions OR Tigers OR Bears.
  • Using a – (negative character) before a search term will mean that term will not appear in the search results e.g. –Eating.
  • Using NOT with keywords will return pages that include the keyword without footage that contains the other keyword. e.g. Desert NOT Cactus.
  • Putting your search term in quotation marks will search for an exact phrase match.

Using the ‘Advanced Footage Search’ Function

If you need a more specific search, you might want to try ‘Advanced Footage Search’, which offers numerous options for making your searches more precise and getting more useful results. You can find the link to the ‘Advanced Footage Search’ next the ‘Search Footage’ Box at the top and bottom of each page.

Once on the ‘Advanced Footage Search’ page you can search according to Keyword or Clip ID. In addition to these search fields you can drill down the results to see footage based upon the following categories.
